Beginnings is a registered ministry of First Baptist Church dedicated to offering high quality, affordable preschool and child care to the community. Beginnings Preschool offers a four part developmental program to meet physical, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of children from six weeks through age five.

As a result of the large congregation of First Baptist Church, the center needed to expand its capacity from 40 childcare spots to ~ 120 childcare spots. In order to support this growth, additional physical space was needed for the center itself, as well as a playground expansion and vehicle purchase.

First Baptist Church engaged SGA Strategies to assist with not only resource development to support Beginnings’ expansion, but to also assist with the real estate development and acquisition involved.

SGA Strategies helped First Baptist Church launch a Community Development Corporation — Beginnings, CDC– and successfully win a federal grant for the childcare center’s expansion.

Through creative financing, neither the church nor the childcare center was burdened with loans for the space build out, playground expansion, or vehicle purchase.

The result? A sustainable business model that has enabled New Beginnings to grow and operate into the childcare center it is today.
